Tucker Beckett and I likely never would have met if our spouses weren’t having an affair.

Newly divorced with a young son to raise Tucker Beckett is the last man Miranda Owens should be itching to figure out, to make smile, and hear laugh. Still there is something about the detective with haunted blue eyes and a dirty mouth that draws her in from the moment they meet.

If only life were so simple.

As Tucker and Miranda begin to navigate their new relationship, Tucker is tasked with solving the murder of a young woman, while their ex’s begin to play games in an attempt to split the two of them up.

Before they fall, these two will need to figure out if the only thing tying them together is the circumstances that brought them together in the first place or if it’s something more.

Love isn’t complicated but sometimes life is.

My Thoughts:

“Then I feel sorry for you because you’re fighting a battle you’re never going to win. Miranda is mine, and I’m not giving her up.”

This is a fantastic read that you will want to devour in one sitting! Tucker and Miranda are my new favorite IT-COUPLE. Absolutely goals with these two. They both are mature, level-headed, and have their priorities lined up. Such a pleasure reading about two people who have been through a lot of terrible situations who decide to not let those moments define them.

Tucker was dealt a tough hand in life. But here he is, making it work. How he ever got twisted up with Naomie, I’ll never understand. But it led him to Miranda, and that’s all that matters. He has a unique extended family situation that is proof how blood truly doesn’t matter when it comes down to those you choose to surround yourself with. Miranda helps soften the hard edges and it’s absolutely beautiful when he begins to see more light than darkness.

Miranda is such a sweet, understanding woman who always puts her adorable son, Kingston, first. She is extremely relatable and the kind of woman we should all aspire to be. She handles Naomie like a pro, leaving the petty stuff at the door. She also handles her ex far better than I could ever imagine I would in that situation. He’s such a spineless jerk.

I love the added depth of including details of the case that Tucker and Miles are investigating. It adds a hint of apprehension that heightens the emotion. I swooned over the line I shared above and giggled while blushing like a little schoolgirl over the spicy scenes. The passion between Tucker and Miranda is everything!

I reserve space on my bookshelf for only the BEST of the BEST books that I read. This one easily earned a spot!

I received a complimentary copy for reviewing purposes. All opinions are my own.

Excerpt:

“Who is she?”

“Who’s who?” Miles asks, joining us.

“I’m asking him who the woman was he was with at the bar,” Dalton answers.

“That’s Bowie’s wife,” Miles mutters, and I take my eyes off Willow and Clay, who are slow dancing, to glare at him. “What? I saw you with her.”

“You’re fucking with me.” Dalton leans past me to look at Miles. “The wife of the dude Naomie was fucking?”

“One and the same.” Miles grins, and I pick up my beer, shaking my head at the two of them.

“What the fuck?” Dalton elbows me.”

“What the fuck nothing. She’s Bowie’s ex. We connected over the fact that our exes were having an affair, and that’s all,” I say low, hoping to end this.

“I saw you with her, bro. Lie to yourself if you want, but that’s not why you connected with her,” Miles says, then adds, “And if the woman wearing my ring had an affair, the last person I’d be getting cozy with is the wife of the man she cheated on me with.”

“She’s his ex-wife,” I bite out. “And you and I aren’t the same.”

“I know, because I don’t lie to myself.”
