Another great firefighter book of the Station 47 Series based in Nashville! All of them are more than coworkers – they’re like brothers – and it’s been fun to watch each one find love despite their bachelor ways. I always recommend starting a series from the beginning, although each can standalone.
Rhett is one of the group who is wholly committed to his bachelorhood. He has always had dreams of being a firefighter and hasn’t been willing to let anything sway that goal. He faces a lot of traumatic events that not only put his life in danger, but holds the door open for the possibility that someone else could lose their life. He is pragmatic about how he doesn’t want to put anyone (mostly meaning a wife/kids/etc.) through a loss like that. I love getting to see how he realizes what he’s missing out on when Sofia comes along and the effort he makes to prove that he’s the man for her.
From the moment Rhett rescues the sweet, redheaded teacher, Sofia, the fire doesn’t take long to turn into an inferno! She’s always felt a little out of sorts because of how she came into the world via an affair, but this beautiful journey gives her the chance to grow more confident and find her own way.
I absolutely loved how well these two balance each other out and come together to create a love story that satisfies!
