For fans of The Kiss Curse (Erin Sterling) and This Spells Love (Kate Robb) comes an opposites attract, fake dating romcom set in modern day Canada–with a hint of magic.

GAVIN GLENGARRY has climbed the corporate ladder with ruthless efficiency to save his family home, a strategy that now threatens his chance at the promotion he desperately needs. Facing an upcoming retreat for the job candidates –and their plus ones–Gavin is up against his toughest challenge yet: playing nice.

Charismatic SABRINA LABELLE has a gift for interpreting tarot–if only her intuition extended to saving her witchcraft shop. She’s tried everything from séances gone wrong to misbegotten cat adoptions in her effort to save the quirky store that’s been her second home and her late mother’s dream.

The two strike a bargain: he’ll provide one-on-one business coaching to help Sabrina’s store and she’ll pose as Gavin’s charming girlfriend at the company retreat. As real feelings grow, their biggest challenge isn’t the team building sessions, corporate dinners or an accidental stay in the honeymoon suite—it’s the Glengarry Family Curse. Because a life filled with Sabrina’s optimism will force Gavin to reveal tightly bound secrets or suffer his cursed fate.

This is one of the most saucy, fun romcoms I’ve read this year! There are plenty of laugh-out-loud moments and quirkiness that is simply endearing.

Gavin and Sabrina are a good example of opposites attract. Where Gavin is straight-lined and hard, Sabrina is soft and not afraid of living outside of the box. The premise for how these two start their mutually-beneficial relationship is not a new concept, but I enjoyed how the tarot/astrology aspect added a unconventional spin.

The chemistry between these two is a fun exploration – from their agreement to when things heat up. They both have a lot on the line and need this to be a successful partnership. Ending up with more than anticipated is a delicious side effect of falling head over heels. The personal developments are off the charts both individually and as a couple. Gavin discovers how to let his hard lines soften and to handle the delicate family secrets he’s kept locked up for so long. Sabrina finds herself discovering that with a little magic and hard work, she can make her business thrive. She allows herself to be vulnerable – even at the risk of being shattered.
