After discovering the California Suits series, I knew I had to come back and start where it all began. Most horse ranch stories I’ve come across are based in Tennessee, Texas, Montana, Wyoming, etc. It was a nice change of pace to get the California version!
I was laughing from the very start when Sam and Holt meet. I love that she’s headstrong and her position as one of the top breeding managers gives her an edge unlike others. The fact that he instantly overlooks the fact that “Sam – the breeding manager” could be a woman gets the enemy vibes flowing and I couldn’t wait to see where it would go. Holt, being a Hollywood stuntman, makes him enemy number one for her on the farm — until he isn’t.
The past that the family had with Hollywood and their reasons for leaving are heartbreaking and understandable. But I felt like each one still hung onto a tie that connected them with their former lives – from ballet to film to music. It made each one of them well-rounded beyond the horse farm. I loved that both Sam and Holt found a path to becoming better versions of themselves together. The banter was still fun, but watching them fall in love in spite of it? Priceless!
