My Thoughts:
I fell in love with Isabel Jolie’s works via a different series, but when I read the blurb for this book, I knew I had to check it out. I grabbed the first two books of the Arrow Tactical Security series and dove in. I devoured them and anxiously awaited this one to be released — and goodness, it was SO worth the wait!
Isabel Jolie sets the scene and whisks us away on a thrilling adventure with Sophia and Damian. They have history – him being her former bodyguard and a friend of her father’s. Add in the age difference and it made for a fun dynamic between these two. I was rooting for things to work out before things even got started.
What should be a routine assignment turns into something bigger than I think either were ready for — even Damian with his advanced experience in the field. While the duo plays their roles and pulls us deeper into the suspense of the case, their feelings begin to become all too real. This adds that extra layer of suspense that makes your eyes fly faster and faster over the words because you want to see how it twists them up next.
Although these can be each read as a standalone, I highly suggest reading the first two in the series. You get more insight to Sophia and what she endured as a young girl. It adds to her character background and helps you root for the woman to succeed in her career — and relationship. Damian’s struggle with how he feels, but he never waivers on his instinct to protect her (all the while with that bit of wolfish tendency to want to eat her, too). One of the BEST books I’ve read this year!
