A romantic suspense book is always right up my alley – especially when it’s well-balanced, equally making my skin tingle and heart pitter-patter. Going undercover and falling for your protection duty is risky and I love how these two hover over that line. It’s a vulnerability neither one needs if they’re going to catch the Slasher.
The pacing of Fletcher Colton’s undercover assignment keeps you on edge, wondering what strange evidence is going to pop up next. I like to try and solve the crime alongside the lead characters, fully submerging myself to absorb the tense moments created by the author. Childs did a fantastic job of pulling me under and making me read faster to find the Slasher.
The romance doesn’t overshadow the suspense side, giving us just enough through the characters to make them vulnerable. We want them together, yet it could potentially blow up in their faces. Excited for more of the series!
