My Thoughts:
As a part of Kaylee’s Crew, I was so excited for this book! She polled the group, mixing in top-voted aspects for the characters, location, etc. It makes this book extra special for me!
Emerson had a rough childhood but knew she could always count on her brother. He also comes with a group of friends who are his ride-or-☠️ – the very ones who own Everlasting Ink. I absolutely love the dynamics between the group and how they interact with Emerson and Monroe. They’re protective, yet flirty enough to aggravate Forrest. Roman does his best to keep her on a “little sister” level, but when they’re given the chance to spend more time together, his heart begins to beat out his will.
The slow burn makes the agony worth every second! I love how they take their time together, ensuring that it’s not a flame that is going to burn so hot and quick that it goes out as fast as it began. Rome is patient, thoughtful, and incredibly sweet in how he is head over heels for Emerson.
Emerson and Rome both go through some growth in this book that is subtle, yet leaves an imprint when you’re finished reading. Kaylee Ryan proved that intimacy between a couple is far more than physical with this book. There was a lot of healing for each character and between characters. I loved how Forrest has been a father-figure to Emerson and how he has to come to terms that he’s also still her brother. It makes the dynamic interesting once he opens his eyes and sees how good Roman really is for Emerson.
This series is set to rise to the top of my all-time favorites – especially from Kaylee. Excited for more!
