I’ve never been much of a fan of camping, but Kelsey Woods has me thinking I may need to reconsider! This was such an enjoyable read as it follows Chris on his personal vow of celibacy for six months and Anna who is looking for the right man before she gives up her virginity.
Anna’s background had my heart aching for what she had to go through with her stepfather and all of the stigmas she had from her upbringing. I loved her strength for choosing to move far away, seek counseling, and support through her friends. With those things and time, we get to read about the best part of her journey — when she opens her heart.
One of the best parts I found myself admiring about this book is how the characters don’t try to change each other. They find enjoyment in what fulfills the other. For example, when Chris’s regular barber is out of town, he goes to Anna for a cut and ends up relishing in how skilled she truly is to the point of buying salon products to use. Anna isn’t exactly an outdoor enthusiast, but her gains an appreciation for camping and hiking alongside Chris.
I am definitely going to go back and read the first book, then anxiously await for another wonderful read from Kelsey!
