Autumn and Gideon’s story is EVERYTHING I wanted this summer! After Gideon’s interaction with the Baileys, I was curious how this would play out when Autumn brought him home with a ring on her finger.
From the get-go, I loved Autumn. I think she’s very secure in who she is and holds true to it. Of course, she has her feelings hurt about how people (supposed friends/coworkers and club bouncers) view her, but she’s still going to hold that line. In saying this, I knew she’d be the perfect match for Gideon! In her own way, she helps him find that confidence in himself without being overly pushy or judgmental.
Gideon had a rough past and clings to the anger associated with it. But with Autumn at his side, it doesn’t take long for that facade to crumble. Watching him rediscover his father was one of the most beautiful aspects of the book. And of course, I love how he reaches back to his cowboy roots.
Autumn is clearly loved by her family, but they seem to step on her, despite the assurance she has in who she is and what she wants to do. It was her moment to shine when she stands up to them and makes her feelings known. Her students love her (former and current) and her selfless giving of her time and effort don’t go unrecognized. Gideon feeds off this as from the way his mother was described, Autumn is a lot like her. Together, these two are a powerhouse of love, breaking generational curses, and SPICE!
